WHO WE ARE
ArtPAC supports the arts through political action.
ArtPAC is an LA County, local funding political action committee that advocates for the arts by supporting leaders who create a policy framework that thoughtfully considers artists. Run by artists and political professionals, ArtPAC pairs our knowledge of the needs of artists with our experience and expertise of the political landscape. We are a volunteer organization and 100% of funds raised are used to support artists through political action.
MISSION
Our mission is to maintain and deepen the role of the Los Angeles region as the world’s cultural center through the channels of our local government. ArtPAC supports the arts through political action.
WE HAVE A VISION FOR LOS ANGELES COUNTY
ArtPAC believes in a Los Angeles that embraces our county’s rich history of world-changing art while supporting leaders that continue to pave the way for a new generation of artists to change the world.
ArtPAC strives towards a vibrant arts community whose innovation has global impact. We believe that by embracing diverse forms of artistic expression and implementing thoughtful policies that amplify the voices distinct to Los Angeles but relevant globally, we can bolster our reputation as a hub of innovation with far-reaching influence.
In ArtPAC’s vision for Los Angeles, a robust policy framework ensures that prosperity nurtures communities across the county, including expanding support for and access to the arts.
To achieve this vision, ArtPAC supports leaders who create a policy framework that thoughtfully considers artists. Simply put, we support candidates who are “pro-artist.” These are leaders who see the value of the arts as a community-unifying force and leverage that vision to create stronger communities. With faith in artists’ strength as leaders, ArtPAC also works to empower artists to engage politically, including running for office, to have a more direct impact on the policy-making process.
ArtPAC is currently working towards adoption of Arts in Public Places policies in 100% of LA County municipalities. These policies build local funds for the arts by requiring developers to allocate 1% of building valuations towards public art. You can read more about our blueprint for 100% adoption throughout LA County here.
